ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology announces the the new 'fast-impact' track

TOSEM is designing a new fast-impact track to guarantee timely publication and high visibility of top quality papers presenting novel ideas. The track will guarantee an upper bounded turnaround time for papers that qualify as journal first papers and will not exceed a reasonable length. The track will be launched soon after ICSE. Details will follow.

ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology announces the new ACM TOSEM board of distinguished reviewers

TOSEM is setting up a board of distinguished reviewers to guarantee timely and high quality reviews.  

Distinguished Reviewers will be officially acknowledged in the journal, and will be consider for the editorial board after a reasonable service time.
Distinguished Reviewers will be asked to review up to 6 papers per year in their field within 60 days per review and will be asked to review papers after major submissions within 45 days. 

We appreciate self-nominations.

Please use this form to nominate YOURSELF for TOSEM BOARD OF DISTINGUISHED REVIEWERS. Self-nominations encouraged. While we cannot select all qualified candidates, we will do our best to add new people.


  1. PhD or similar research experience (or will have PhD within the next 12 months)
  2. at least two full research papers in the main technical tracks of ASE, ESEC/FSE, or ICSE or in top-tier journals (TOSEM, TSE, or EMSE)
  3. at least two people who served on ASE, ESEC/FSE, or ICSE PC/PB/ERC and can confirm the high quality of your reviewing work --- you do NOT need to check with the supporters in advance; we want a lightweight process and will only check if needed.

ACM Transactions on Software Engineering andMethodology  names Mauro Pezzè as Editor-in-Chief

ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology (TOSEM) welcomes Mauro Pezzè as new Editor-in-Chief, for the term January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021. Mauro is a professor of software engineering and former dean of the Faculty of Informatics at the Università della Svizzera italiana (Switzerland), and professor of software engineering at the Università di Milano-Bicocca (Italy). He has served as associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering and ACM Transactions on Software Engineering, as general chair or the ACM International Symposium on Software Testing and Analysis in 2013, program chair of the International Conference on Software Engineering in 2012 and of the ACM International Symposium on Software Testing and Analysis in 2006. He is known for his work on software testing, program analysis, self-healing and self-adaptive software systems.

Call for Nominations Editor-In-Chief ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology

The term of David Rosenblum, the current Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of TOSEM, is coming to an end, and the ACM Publications Board has set up a nominating committee to assist the Board in selecting the next EiC. Nominations, including self nominations, are invited for a three-year term as TOSEM EiC, beginning on January 1, 2019. Nominations should be sent by September 9, 2018, to the nominating committee chair, Paola Inverardi. Further details may be found in the full Call for Nominations.
